In 2015 Wesley Intermediate School joined the Manaiakalani Outreach programme and successfully piloted three fully integrated 1:1 device based learning classes. Fast forward several years and WIS can proudly call itself a 1:1 school, with all learners either purchasing a Chromebook or having one supplied for them.
Learning is different in each class and for each area of the curriculum. However, all students and teachers use the G-Suite of apps and tools to successfully learn, create and share. Through our ongoing partnership with the Manaiakalani Education Trust and our own Ako Hiko Education Trust, we are able to source devices for families and offer payment plans to suit all needs.
At the beginning of each year, parents of new Chromebook users are invited to join us for a series of information evenings and the opportunity to explore how learning has changed. Each whānau is asked to sign the AHET Kawa of Care. You are invited to view the document here and contact the school directly should you have questions.
Check out one of our students below sharing an experience involving the sharing of her learning and her blog.
